A man can have different lifes. My readers know that I have at least two. I am Adjunct Professor of Corporate Finance at the University of Bologna and a quant trader. But early in my life back in 1983 I started a career as a journalist with a stunning interview to a local politician announcing the opening of a kindergarten in a little village forgotten by God in North Italy, an interview that made history .. as you can imagine. In those times to be a correspondent from a little village for a local newspaper meant to live in a world that today makes you laugh: fax still did not exist, articles were sent in a special yellow envelope with the train to the central newsroom by 4 p.m. every day, and on bike every day I was visiting the local police station, the court, the hospital and … the cemetery … always hungry for news. Since 1993 my focus as a journalist became the stock exchange and the financial markets: I started with a very clear idea in my mind … that is to cover financial markets as a journalist is much easier since you do not need to move from home, no bike, no standing up all the day in a court, no car crashes in the night. And I wrote about the markets for another 22 years which means a life. Why this introductory long talk ? Now you know why I am back on TRADERS’ MAG: I like you, I like my readers. I have been writing for a life and sometimes if you do not write you feel that you are dead. Silence for a journalist is fatal: you must write, you must talk, it makes you feel that you exist in real. I have been posting a column for TRADERS’ Mag UK and Germany for 3 years in a row from 2009 up to 2012 and on my facebook page I got more than 800 friends from abroad out of 1400 in total, people that in many cases expressed me their appreciation for my books in English, for my talks, for my articles, both technical and also the lighter ones. How can you live without them ? So Market Rap is back, we have a long journey ahead, and we will not talk simply about markets, because markets are the result of human action so that first you talk about men and then you understand markets. This is the nice feature of this job, which seems only made up with numbers but believe me this is false. Man is the hallmark of financial markets. Otherwise why would I be back if I would have been a number ? We have a long journey ahead, stay tuned !
